A Summer of Fences

I love the smell of flowers
And how they sway, I could stare for hours
The stems to ants must seem like towers
Oh to be so small, would be to me great power
To be lost in such a glorious city
As the rays of the sun illuminate it's beauty
Oh to be so light as to let the wind lift me
Like a dandelion's dander's flight, spastic and free
To walk in the shade of the colorful buds
To waltz with a mantis and swim in the mud
To climb their stems, like a ladybug could
And taste the dew on the leaves like anyone would
But I come to my senses, to the real world it seems
And I wonder if the flowers can see my day dream
But they silently bask in the sun's gracious beams
I am so aware of them but they may never know me

Not Really So Picturesque

When the leaves fall from the tree
Will they fall on land or in the lake?
Ever floating free
Or the victim of a rake?
Under the bridge calmly
Or stuffed into a bag?
The leaf venturing ever softly
Or the leaf burned with the chaff?
What do these waters have in store?
He ponders only what is in his sight
As the leaf in the lake floats toward the shore
To be collected another night

No Return Address

Dear You,

Your memory gives me this feeling...
It is like the smell of cigarette smoke, or plastic, inflatable pool toys
Like the sight of a mountain in a picture, or the wind rolling along green fields
Like the sound of water splashing a ways off, or a racquetball hitting against the wall
Like the feeling of squeezing a pillow, or cool water all around me

But it also gives me this other feeling...
It is like the smell of moldy old clothes, or recently burned black and milds
Like the sight of a grand piano, or a big white truck
Like the sound of a V6 engine rumbling outside, or death cab's new CD
Like the feeling of a cold sweat, or dream-like despair

I wonder just how far away could you really be?

Yours truly,
Me

Starry Hosts

Small star in a black sea
You feel so far away from me
To you this life must surely seem
Like a well intention-ed dream
Watching from your distant post
Sparkling, still among the heavenly hosts
What a massive burning light to reach
All the way to this crowded beach!
I wish to hold you in my arms
Tell you that you're far from harm
But somehow the only thing to do
Is from earth admire you
As you suffer this great yet finite fate
I watch you yet with heart ablaze
Oh my star in a black sea
You feel so far away from me

Juliana Sunlight

Juliana sunlight
Great are the great lights!
Faint are the late nights!
A whisper in the worst of times
My poems are all just ill placed rhymes
if my life wont do the same
Dressed in colors of black and white
Dancing under faint moonlight
Turn to grey, a peculiar sight
I've met a strangers eyes alright!
I think I may, I think I might
