To Me, You Were Good

What was I to you?
The answer to some desperate mumbled prayer
What was I to you?
The lesser evil you thought you could bare
To me you were good
I built the pedestal and painted white the wood
To me you were good

What was I to you?
A friend or something close enough to use
What was I to you?
A feeling too dangerous to let it become true
To me you were good
Proof there was somebody worthy where I stood
To me you were good

What am I? I thought I knew
Self actuated, underrated, something new
But some days, more and more
I'm spilling out these feelings on my bedroom floor
It took so long to be okay
But it takes so much fucking work to stay that way
